The Mangopare recycled plastic mat in bold red, black and white is a perfect display of Maori culture. It is a popular design for anywhere celebrating culture and community
This recycled plastic picnic mat features the 'Mangopare' design, a traditional Maori symbol of strength and courage. New Zealand artist Turumakina Duley came up with this modern take on a traditional Mangopare design. It is his interpretation of an ancient symbol, variously interpreted as a lovers’ embrace, and a symbol of everlasting friendship. It's a design found on greenstone, and in tribal carvings.
Like all our outdoor mats, the unique NZ-designed recycled mat can be used for brightening up your home, camping, playing, a trip to the beach or picnicking.
Made from recycled plastics, these mats are light, naturally waterproof, easy to clean, and easy to care for. You'll never spend hours picking the grass off your picnic mat or vacuuming your car boot again.
They are both soft and comfortable to sit or walk on, but also extremely hardwearing. As with most of our recycled plastic mats, this design is reversible. Not only does it extend the longevity of the mat, it effectively means two slightly different designs!
If these tones aren't your thing, but you love this Maori design, we also have 'Mangopare' in a Black & Green colour.
Pair with one of our unique picnic tables for the ultimate outdoor setup or perhaps one or two of our sand-free, super absorbent towels (also made from recycled material) for a day at the beach.
We're now exploring how we can 're-recycle' your unwanted mats! Our exciting initiative for re-purposing and re-using them is a must-read.
