Korero is a popular mat design for cultural centres, libraries, universities, and stylish monochrome house styling
New Zealand artist Turumakina Duley created the impressive Korero design, which is also known as Ngaa Hau ee Wha – ‘the four winds’.
Spoken about in many different cultural spaces, the image of the four winds evokes people coming from all directions to gather in pursuit of peace through ceremony, celebration and learning. The artist draws on his ancestry of Tuhoe, Ngaiterangi and Ngati Awa origins to produce cultural imagery for tattoos and other visual art forms.
The circular shape inspires connectedness, community and the sharing of games, conversations or food with family, friends and loved ones. Celebrate your own culture as you relax on the mat, or use this design as a teaching tool about world cultures.
Why not match this floor rug with a handy fold-up picnic table in matching Korero motif? Or throw a couple of our comfy multicultural cushions on the mat for relaxing in the sun.
Choose a Korero New Zealand design recycled mat in stylish black and white for an eye-catching addition to your life.
